Secret Gardens of Higham Ferrers

Sunday 15 June from 12 noon to 5pm

Cost: Programmes £5 per adult (children under 16 free) on sale from the Market Square on the day

The residents of Higham Ferrers welcome visitors to their garden each year. The gardens range from the quirky to the formal, some with sweeping lawns and mature trees, while others boast butterfly and bee-friendly refuges, as well as winding paths leading to secluded sitting areas, with another featuring grasses creating height, texture, and movement.

ART EXHIBITION by Higham Ferrers gateway club

Saturday 28 June and Sunday 29 June 10-4

Venue: Chichele College

Higham Ferrers Gateway Club provides social and leisure opportunities for adults living with a learning disability. The paintings were produced at the club's regular Wednesday evening meetings. The activities were fully inclusive to ensure all the club members could take part.

The Big Art was painted using a wide range of methods, which included paint on wheelchair tyres, bare feet and hands, throwing paint etc. The brushes used ranged from outdoor sweeping brush to a small art brush.

The "80" was part of the club's celebration of the 80th anniversary of VE day. It was designed to ensure all club members were able to paint a portion of the complete painting.

HIGHAM FERRERS HORTICULTURAL SHOW

Saturday 13 September 11am ─ 4pm

Venue: Chichele College

Higham Ferrers Horticultural Show is open to everyone, young and old, beginners and experienced producers. You don't have to live in Higham Ferrers to take part – all entries are very welcome.

Some classes will be just for fun and some for those who take their produce far more seriously, classes for vegetables, fruit, flowers, floral art, cakes and preserves.

There is plenty of time for you to plan what you will be showcasing. The recipes for the baking section will be on our website along with details of classes and how to enter.

From early spring entry forms can be downloaded from this website or they can be picked up from the Town Hall.

Entrants can submit a maximum of three exhibits in each class. It is 50p an entry and free for children. Its free to view the winning entries.
